Tui The Messenger Bird
ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is an exploration of the interplay between the tangible and the intangible, the seen and the unseen, and existent and disappearing forms.

Working within the genre of abstract realism, my pieces blend abstract backgrounds with emergent forms overlaid with symbols of our vanishing world, such as ancient architecture, Indigenous motifs, and endangered species. This approach aims to document the transitional era we are living in, preserving elements of the past and embracing the unfolding future while also bringing to people's awareness the great threat of extinction that many of the world's species are experiencing.

My creation process begins with meditation, connecting to the Krystal Spiral in the quantum field and seeking guidance from higher-dimensional energies.

Each canvas has a pre-drawn image of The Krystal Spiral on it.

I then apply an underpainting using various materials like acrylics, spray paints, and gold leaf to intuitively create a solid foundation. Subsequent layers of oil glazes and detailed work build up to the final composition.

My artwork is often praised for its distinctive light quality and vibrant colours, with many pieces seeming to radiate an inner luminescence. Through this multifaceted approach, I strive to create visually captivating works that bridge the physical and spiritual realms, offering viewers a glimpse into the interconnected nature of our reality.

My current series showcases endangered species. For more detailed information, please see my statement for each individual work.

Thank you for your interest in my work.
